  Tenka-Ichi Jr. Semi-Finalists Decided!
May 27th, 2005

The matches of the tournament leading up to the semi-finals are now over. The semi-finals between each block's tied fighters and the Finals themselves are scheduled for 5/29 in Shizuoka. Usually in these block format tournaments, head-to-head win/loss decides who advances if there is a tie. (For example: while Hidaka and Murahama both had 6 points in Block B, in their singles match Hidaka was the victor.)

So the Semi-finals look like this:

FIGHT CARD
Block A Semi-Finals:
Tatsuhito Takaiwa vs. Yoshihito Sasaki
Block B Semi-Finals:
Ikuto Hidaka vs. Takehiro Murahama

Today at a press conference at the ZERO1-MAX Tokyo offices, Shinjiro Otani announced that "The Original Playa from the Himalaya," Sonjay Dutt has injured his shoulder and had to return to the United States to recuperate. Otani said it was tendon damage in Sonjay's right shoulder and he'd need at least two months to heal. Sonjay therefore will be unable to compete in the upcoming "Tenka-Ichi" Jr. tournament. Go to www.sonjaydutt.com to read Sonjay's official statment on the injury.

Otani called in Osamu Namiguchi and gave him the news that he will now be in the tournament as Sonjay's replacement. Namiguchi was very pleased to recieve another oppurtunity to participate in the tourney. Here's the blocks:

Namiguchi Goes Down! Dino is In!
May 10th, 2005

In an impressive display Danshoku Dino made Osamu Namiguchi tap in front of his teacher in just under 60 seconds with a cross arm breaker. Dino came ready to go, not displaying his usual mannerisms and wearing the basic black tights and his wrestling shoes.

Takaiwa congratulated Dino and told him that he will be placed in the same Block as himself. Reporters asked Dino if he would be the serious competitor he was today or revert to his more playful self. He said we'd have to wait and see. Dino joins a block with Tatsuhito Takaiwa, Minoru Fujita, GAMMA and Yoshihito Sasaki.

Dino Invited to Tenka-Ichi Jr. Entry Match!
May 9th, 2005

In an interesting turn of events, ZERO1-MAX Director and Ring Announcer Oki Okidata along with Tatsuhito Takaiwa approached DDT's...um...colorful wrestler, Danshoku Dino and offered him a qualifying match against Osamu Namiguchi (a Takaiwa student) in the training facility.

Takaiwa was the winner of last year's Tenka-Ichi tournament, and made sure Dino understood that the Jr. tourney was a serious tournament and that Takaiwa himself is a serious man and not into silliness. Dino said the prospect to be in such a big tournament to him is "tasty" though he understands the importance of the offer.

It was also announced that K-Dojo's PSYCHO and freelance fighter GAMMA (late of Osaka Pro and now under his own GamMax banner) would also be taking part in the tournament.

Differ Cup 2005! KENTA & Marufuji Triumphant!
May 8th, 2005

The 2005 co-promotional tag team junior tournament is over, with the winners being the favored NOAH team of KENTA and Naomichi Marufuji. The final match of the two day tournament came down to the NOAH juniors and ZERO1-MAX regulars and current NWA International Lightweight Tag Team Champions Ikuto Hidaka and Minoru Fujita. The match went an impressive 45+ minutes before Fujita finally went down to KENTA's Busaiku Knee Kick.

The opening day of the tournament of the Differ Cup 2005 saw the NOAH team go first through Ibushi Kota (DDT) and KUDO (DDT), and then former NWA International Lightweight Tag Team Champions and the current HUSTLE tag team of Kaz Hayashi (AJPW) and Spanky (W-1) in the main event of the show. "Skull & Bones", Ikuto Hidaka and Minoru Fujita on the other hand first defeated the team of TAKA Michinoku (K-Dojo) and PSYCHO (K-Dojo) and then the team of Tiger Emperor (NOAH) and Super Shisa (Dragon Gate).

The second day saw the Finals and the 3rd Place decision match, which was won by Kaz and Spanky over Tiger Emperor and Super Shisa. Other matches involving ZERO1-MAX fighters was an opening singles match where Nami managed to go to a time-limit draw with Nakajima, despite getting his face smashed pretty well and gushing blood. There was also a 6-man tag of Takaiwa, Tomohiro Ishii and Yoshihito Sasaki defeating TAKA, PSYCHO and ZERO1-MAX gaijin junior, Sonjay Dutt.

Other interesting characters to take part in these shows were Ebetaro (the new identity of Ebessan I) and Amazing Kong, who showed the men she might very well challenge for that spot in this year's Fire Festival by first defeating Stalker Ichikawa in a quick :23 second and then beating Ichikawa and DJ Nira in 2½ minutes when she place one atop the other and hit a top rope body splash for the win.

Ebetaro got on the mic after his loss to Sonjay and said even though he's now freelance and there's a new Ebessan in Osaka Pro he is fully dedicated to his sport and will do his best to improve for himself but more importantly his fans.

And finally, in a wonderful act of honor, KENTA and Marufuchi said they would donate their winnings of 1,000,000 yen to wounded fellow junior and ZERO1-MAX fighter Naohiro Hoshikawa. (Who has been recovering from a serious head injury)

ZERO1-MAX Director and ring announcer Oki Okidata came into the ring to accept the check for Hoshikawa and was his usual emotional self as the victors of the tournament raised his hands in triumph.
