"Best German in the World" match on 8/24!
August 20th, 2007
At the upcoming 8/24 ZERO1-MAX show in Korakuen Hall, with Team EMBLEM clashing against each other in the main event, there will also be a match titled "Best German in the World" as the semi-main. "German" in this case refering to "German suplex," of which three of the participants in the match use as their primary finishing move.
Current ZERO1-MAX Intercontinental Tag Team champions, Yoshihiro Takayama and Kohei Sato, will take on Takao Omori and Daisuke Sekimoto in a non-title match to determine who has the best German suplex. The participants were asked about their thoughts on the match:
Yoshihiro Takayama
"The Korkauen Hall match on the 24th is called the "Best German in the World" match. But if you mention the greatest German suplex in the world, it is without a doubt Karl Gotch. Are you insulting a dead person? That is extremely impolite.
"And, there is an Ishikawa show on the 26th I will be at. Although it seems to be the the 15th Anniversary match of Omori. If it was the real deal it would be in Setagaya-ku, Tokyo, where Omori graduated!"
Kohei Sato
Kohei Sato was visiting the Kumamoto Castle in Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan, where he commented on the upcoming 8/24 Korkauen Hall match.
"The Kumamoto castle is called impregnable and unable to be approached by enemies. It is a castle that exists just for me. As for the Korakuen Hall match, it is only Sekimoto that I need to worry about. Omori not only did a poor job during this year's "Fire Festival" and he doesn't even use the German suplex. In professional wrestling German suplexes, I am number 1!"
Takao Omori
When current AWA World Heavyweight champion Takao Omori was reached for comment he was doing "special secret training" in a forest in Kanto, Japan. His reply when asked about taking part in the "Best German in the World" was:
"Yoshiiro Takayama and Kohei Sato, and even my tag partner in this match Daisuke Sekimoto, are all regular users of the German suplex. As for myself, I'll stick with the Axe Bomber to the end!"
Lion King Cup Press Conference! Fan Vote MVP!
August 17th, 2007

ZERO1-MAX held a press conference at their SAC store directly across the street from the offices in Tokyo. Twelve of the competitors were present for the event, with BattArts' Munenori Sawa and Yuta Yoshikawa appearing dressed in their ring gear. When asked why their response was, "We thought the matches would begin today."
The Lion King Cup was originally created by Pro Wrestling ZERO-ONE big boss, Shinya Hashimoto and last held in 2003 by ZERO-ONE, the Lion King Cup is a tournament designed to give younger wrestlers from different promotions a chance to showcase their skills against each other in a tournament situation.
The last winner of the tournament was Yoshihito Sasaki, who from there went on to win the Tenka-Ichi Jr Tournament Tournament in 2005 and took part in his first "Fire Festival" this year.
This year it will be a three day event at Shin-Kiba 1st Ring, where after each show the fans will be able to text their votes for a MVP. The MVP can be chosen regardless of win-loss record. After the three days the results will be tallied and a winner will be crowned. One fan will also win a lottery by voting and a "gorgeous" prize will be given out. The winner of the Lion King Cup this year will also be given a prize by Samurai TV and First On Stage. The MVP of each individual day will be taken out for "Sumo Wrestler's meals" that night.
During the Press Conference, El Dorado pro wrestling's Hercules Osenga stood behind ZERO1-MAX Jr. Osamu Namiguchi and pointed at the developing bald spot on Namiguchi's head, causing the other wrestlers to laugh while Nami was giving his comments on the tournament -Namiguchi said he said the Lion King Cup was created by Shinya Hashimoto, so he thinks a ZERO1-MAX wrestler should be the one to win it.
When it was Senga's time to comment he mentioned Namiguchi's pending baldness and how they met in the 3rd place tag match of this year's Differ Cup. Senga was defeated that day by Hidaka who was teamed with Namiguchi. Senga said Nami and he will meet in a singles match on the final day of the Lion King Cup this year. He promised to come out victorious.
Namiguchi attacked Senga in the street following the press conference. And Mr. Nakamura had to seperate the two and settle the dispute. Nami said if he loses their singles match to Senga on 8/23 he will shave his head.

Tanaka vs. Otani Determined! August 24th!
August 4th, 2007
In response to Masato Tanaka's public request made on the microphone following his "Fire Festival '07" victory, it has been formally decided that Team EMBLEM or Masato Tanaka and Shinjiro Otani will have the singles match everybody has been wanting to see at Tokyo's Korakuen Hall on August 24th during the upcoming "More Than Higher" tour.
Shinjiro Otani said his confidence was struck hard and crushed on the final day of the "Fire Festival '07." He said he has protected ZERO1-MAX without absence or fail, not one match, and that Tanaka is a great friend and a great rival. He added that he definitely felt jealous of Tanaka when he won the Fire Festival this year, and wants to dispel those feeling in their upcoming singles match.
Fire Festival Finalists Post-Show Comments!
August 4th, 2007
On August 2, 2007 in Tokyo's Korakuen Hall Masato Tanaka and Ryouji Sai fought in the finals of the "Fire Festival" for the second successive year. After a strong battle, the 2006 Fire Festival winner Tanaka repeated in victory. Today the two finalists appeared at the ZERO1-MAX office in Tokyo for comments and future plans. Victor Masato Tanaka commented first:
"Last year I won the championship in a situation where my shoulder popped out and I had to fight my way out of it. My victory was half joy and half pain, but this year it was 120% joy. I felt happy and relieved when I scored the 3 count. Two straight victories have been won, and already I'm aiming for three straight victories. When people think of the "Fire Festival" the image of Otani is strong in their mind. I want to change that image in their minds. That is also why I have challenged him at the August 24 Korakuen Hall show."
"The Fire Festival is ZERO1-MAX's leading event every year, and has the hottest battles. I want to spread the heat from Korakuen Hall to the entire district."
"Although the finals was the same match-up as last year, Ryouji Sai has grown much and was very different. Ryouji Sai was a good opponent."
2nd year in-a-row "Fire Festival Runner-up Ryouji Sai commented next:
"Two years in-a-row, the same finals match-up. I am very happy that I did a good job controlling the 5-way and was able to move on to the finals. I have the same amount of regret that I wasn't able to win. My desire for victory was lacking one step."
"There is glory in doing so well in such a pressure-filled difficult atmosphere."
"For the future I want to do some new things. I want to achieve the impossible. In September I'm set to do some out of ZERO1-MAX sorties for other pro wrestling promotions."
