Champ Press Conference! Nami Begs for a Shot!
April 17th, 2006

Takao Omori spoke to the press today, and stated that even though he made his first defense as the 35th AWA World Heavyweight title, he's frustrated that the focus of ZERO1-MAX seems to be fixated on thr Junior champs, Ikuto Hidaka and Minoru Fujita. Omori feels the 2005 tag MVPs and tag champions have left the heavyweights of the promotion in the dust and as the AWA Heavyweight champion he needs to lead the charge for his weight class stating that historically, "after all the center of Pro Wrestling is the heavyweight."

Omori went on to say he wants to make his 2nd defense of his title as soon as possible against any opponent foreign or domestic. When asked about a singles match against Manabu Nakanishi, Omori said he's even more interested now as in order to build the Heavyweight division he needs more high-profile matches like one versus Nakanishi.

As for Hidaka and Fujita, they stated they will take any and all challenges for their GHC Jr. Tag Team titles. They also talked about their first GHC defense from 4/13 against Takaiwa and Yoshihito, with Hidaka saying his pinfall on Takaiwa was a big moment for him in the long tag team battle.

In a dramatic moment, Osamu Namiguchi entered the room and approached Yoshihito Sasaki. Nami discovered that WWA World Welterweight champion and rival, Katsuhiko Nakajima, would be defending the title on 5/6 against Yoshihito. Nami got down on his knees before Yoshihito and begged for him to transfer his right to challenge for the title to Nami. Namiguchi has never gotten over his loss of the WWA title to Katsuhiko, and has subsequently been unable to win it back from the 18 year old phenom.

With Shinjiro Otani looking on, Nami swore that he would win the title and then make Yoshihito the first challenger. Yoshihito being a little surprised at this who scene, turned to Otani for answer. Otani said he will agree to Nami getting another shot at Katsuhiko but warned him this will be his last chance. Nami was grateful and sat down to explain that for this match he will have "indomitable preparedness and determination." Regaining the WWA title is his obsession, and after returning from Mexico several months ago he swore he'd win the title back and take it to Mexico. He mentioned his two previous title challenges, both loses, since dropping the belt and believes he can't lose again. He also said for this match he will go back to his old look with the short cropped hair and the black trunks.

  Titles Defended! EMBLEM vs. STONEHENGE!
April 14th, 2006

The "Happening III" Tour returned to Korakuen Hall with two titles defenses in front of a crowd of 1200 fans. Tom Howard made his return to ZERO1-MAX afer a long absence to face AWA World Heavyweight champion Takao Omori for a shot at the title. The AWA Chairman sent the rules stating there would be a 30 minute time limit and a 10 count on the outside. The 10 count caused Omori some trouble adapting when the two brawled outside the ring, and the match only went a little over 13½ minutes. The match came to end with Omori's first defense when he hit the Axe Guillotine driver, and then immediatly the Axe Bomber for the three count. After the match Omori once again stated he wants to defend his title against New Japan's Manabu Nakanishi.

The semi-main event to the show was the first GHC Jr. tag team title match in ZERO1-MAX, and true to their word Hidaka and Fujita first defended the titles versus a Z1-MAX team of Tatsuhito Takaiwa and Yoshihito Sasaki. Takaiwa and Sasaki came with the power moves, but were unable to overcome the well targeted teamwork of the International Lightweight tag & GHC Jr. tag team champions. After over 20 minutes of action and sveral near falls, Hidaka finally hit the Misty Flip on Yoshihito for the victory.

Another big match came before the two titles matches as former tag team champions, Team EMBLEM and STONEHENGE faced off. The didn't disappoint the fans with a strong battle that saw momentum shift numerous time before EMBLEM took over. Eventually Otani got Ryouji in the ring as Kohei battled Tanaka on the outside. Otani got a dragon suplex and then hit another one and held on for the pin. After the match Otani told Ryouji he expects him to represent ZERO1-MAX at New Japan's "New Japan Cup." Ryouji then said not only would he have a strong showing but he will win the whole tournament and bring the trophy back to ZERO1-MAX.

The fifth match saw a strong showing by Big Japan Pro Wrestling's Daisuke Sekimoto, winning the #1 Contender's match for the United National Heavyweight and a shot at current champion Kohei Sato. Sekimoto used his strength to get the advantage, and then got the pinfall with a German suplex hold.

The 4th match was a "Japan Karate vs. Chinese Kung Fu" martial arts weapons match between Kazuhiko Ogasawara and Kensho Oh. Ogasawara chose the Tonfa as his weapons of choice and Oh chose the 3-piece rod. Ogasawara made a critical error when he chose to drink sak along with Oh, leaving him at a disadvatage as he became inebriated but Oh as a Master of the Drunken Style became stronger. The Referee seeing that Ogasawara couldn't continue called for the bell.

The first three matches were the grizzled team of Tadao Yasuda and Tatsutoshi Goto defeating Rikiya Fudo and RIKIPRO's Daisaku Shimoda. Pro Wrestling El Dorado's Takuya Sugawara and Kagetora continued their tag team dominance by beating GENTARO and Muneki Sawa. And Takehiro Murahama defeated Fuyuki Takaheshi in the opening bout.

  Onita's Stolen Leather Returned!
April 7th, 2006

After reporting his leather jacket stolen following the 4/1 ZERO1-MAX show at the Yasukuni Shrine, Atsushi Onita was happy to report the stolen jacket had been returned to him. Onita was very happy getting it back, once again mentioning the deep sentimental value the beat up old jacket held for him.

Onita had made an appeal in the media for the jacket to be returned, and thinks his heartfelt request reached the person who had stolen it.

Around 8:30pm on 4/4, a man in his late 20s early 30s walked into the Nagasaki restaurant that Onita's Mother is the manager of and returned the jacket to her. Onita then withdrew the police report.

Omori wants Jumbo's Record! Jeto's Limo Ride!
April 3rd, 2006

New AWA World Heavyweight Champion, Takao Omori, spoke to the sports media. Omori, the 32nd and 35th holder of the title, reiterated how he was happy to win his title back from Shinjiro Otani. Though Omori admitted it was a very difficult match to win.

Omori also spoke about former AWA World Heavyweight Champion and wrestling legend, Jumbo Tsuruta. Tsuruta won the AWA World title on 2/22/1984 in Tokyo against Nick Bockwinkel. Jumbo defended his title 16 times before dropping the title to Rick Martel on 5/13/84. Omori said his goal is to successfully defend the title 17 times and beat Jumbo's title defense record.

Speaking about upcoming opponents, Omori said he knows Tom Howard has improved in power and technique since he last appeared in ZERO1-MAX. He also once more brought up the name of New Japan Pro Wrestling's Manabu Nakanishi as a future challenger.

Shinzuke Z Yamagasa left today for an indefinite American training excursion. Jeto recently returned to action after a year from a serious knee injury and operation. His return match was a loss to Wataru Sakata on 3/28 at the final show of "Happening II" at Korakuen Hall, following which Mr. Nakamura told him that he will be receiving a one-way ticket to the United States to study and perfect his skill and to return to ZERO1-MAX when he thinks he's ready. As a going away present Mr. Nakamura said he'd drive Jeto to the airport bus in his very own limousine (Results of which pictured to the right). Jeto is already scheduled to take part in several WORLD-1 wrestling shows, but after that only time will tell where he will go.

And in somewhat sad news, at the 4/1 Yasukuni Shrine show Atsushi Onita's well-loved and famous leather jacket was stolen by an unknown party. After submitting a report to the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department, Onita sent out a FAX to numerous news outlets: "My leather jacket is a symbol of my blood, sweat and tears in pro wrestling. This leather jacket was with me in numerous matches, including my singles match against Riki Choshu, and is a good friend." Onita is requesting the return of his jacket - no questions asked.

Omori Regains AWA Crown! Onita Returns!
April 1st, 2006

ZERO1-MAX ran a very successful and entertaining show at the Yasukuni Shrine, drawing over 4,000 fans to come out and see the return after one year of hardcore legend Atsushi Onita, and to see Takao Omori attempt to regain the AWA World Heavyweight title. The cherry blossoms were in full bloom, the atmosphere before the show was solemn and a priest purified the ring before the first bell.

The Main Event was the AWA World Heavyweight title between champion Shinjiro Otani and the challenger Takao Omori. Omori has lost the title in the United States against Steve Corino back in May of 2004, and had promised to regain the title no matter what. He had not been allowed to immediately compete for the title after his unsportmanlike conduct at the 1/4 New Japan show when he smashed the victory trophy of the IWGP tag team champions.

The two former partners battled for over 20 minutes, with Omori routinely trying to score with the Axe Bomber. Late in the match Otani hit a Dragon Suplex but Omori jumped right up and scored with the Axe Bomber and both fighters to the mat. When the rose, Omori dropped Otani with the Axe Guillotine driver, but Otani kicked out at 1! But the Axe Bomber that quickly followed ended the match and Omori was champion once more! The crowd was very into the match and the whole main event had a great atmosphere surrounding it.

This is the third time Otani and Omori have faced each others in singles match. The first time was 12/26/03 when Otani was defeated with the Axe Bomber. Then is was 12/24/05 on the final show of that year when Otani won with the dragon suplex. They also faced each other in a 3-way elimination match on 3/27/05 including Steve Corino, where after Otani eliminated Corino with the King Cobra hold, Omori won the AWA title with the Axe Bomber. After this match, Omori said he is delighted to be able to win the AWA again and against Otani. He also said this time he will better defend the AWA title, and wants to face Manabu Nakanishi in a singles match for a defense. His next scheduled defense is on 4/13 againt a returning Tom Howard.

After retiring from Pro Wrestling for the 3rd time last year, "Mr. Liar" Atsushi Onita, returned to action alongside former FMW alumni Masato Tanaka and also Lingerie Muto. They faced Ichiro Yaguchi, YASE Yaguchi, Cerberus in a 6-man no DQ Street Fight. Onita entered the ring to the familiar "Wild Thing" dressed in his leather jacket and immiediatly took the fight to the seats. As one would guess, tables and chairs were brought into the action until Onita finally got the pinfall with the Thunder Fire Power Bomb on YASE. After the match Onita got in the ring and spoke the crowd on the microphone in his usual manner, and the crowd responded positively.

Current ZERO1-MAX Intercontinental Tag Team champions the P-Force Men, Y2P-160kg and Steve Corino, went to a time limit draw with Stonehenge members Kohei Sato and Ryouji Sai. Kohei almost got the pinfall as time ran out, lifting and hitting his German Suplex hold on the large Y2P-160kg. Corino broke up the hold and then got the double stomp from Ryouji who couldn't get the pinfall before time ran out.

The 6th match of the show saw Toshiaki Kawada return to ZERO1-MAX to team with Tatsuhito Takaiwa against Tadao Yasuda and Tatsutoshi Goto. The two former New Japan veterans targeted the junior Takaiwa for much of the match, and when he finally got the tag to Kawada, the former Triple Crown Champion cleaned house. Takaiwa tagged back in and was hit with Goto's backdrop suplex for the loss as Yasuda held Kawada on the outside. Kawada then turned his back on the ring and walked out without saying a word.

Other matches saw Shinzuke Z Yamagase lose to the Drunken Kung Fu fighter, Kensho Oh, when the referee stopped the match after Oh hit repeated mounted punches and Jeto couldn't defend himself. Ikuto Hidaka teamed again with Nami against the El Dorado promotion troublemakerts, Sugawara and Kagetore and lost when Kagetora hit his finisher on Namiguchi. Kamikaze, Minoru Fujita and Yoshihito Sasaki won against the strange teaming of NOSAWA, Bic Mouse and Amazing Kong . And the opening match was Takehiro Murahama taking on Katsuhiko Ogasawara in a singles match.
